
The supermarket giant has teamed up with Amber Productions to form a joint venture that has agreed a four-film deal with Collins, and is also in talks with authors Philip Pullman, Jacqueline Wilson and Karin Slaughter.
Tesco will focus on selling and marketing, rather than production.
Other retailers will sell the films after an undisclosed period of exclusivity for Tesco.
The venture is the responsibility of Tesco entertainment director Rob Salter, who said: "Partnerships such as this enable us to offer customers even more than a standard entertainment retailer."
'Paris Connections', the first film, based on Collin's novel 'LA Connections' is currently being filmed and is expected in Tesco stores in May.
Britain's biggest supermarket chain has also flexed its muscles in entertainment by securing exclusive distribution deals with DreamWorks for the animated Christmas film 'Merry Madagascar' and Cinema NX for the Zac Efron film, 'Me and Orson Welles'.
