
The initiative follows a disappointing Christmas in which Tesco showed the most sluggish growth among the major supermarkets.
The price slash spans in-store and online purchases, as the supermarket giant bids to pinch market share from its rivals.
Clothing and laptops in particular have had prices slashed to be "VAT free". The initiative, however, does not run across food.
Kari Daniels, non-food marketing director at Tesco, said: "Tesco’s 20%-off savings mean VAT-Free shopping – whether that’s on luxuries like a fashionable jacket or lovely lingerie – or basics to make their lives easier such as laptops. We’ve got lots of bargains on a range of products – and customers can expect more from us in the coming weeks."
The initiative runs until 8 February, and deals include reductions on Samsung's Galaxy Tab.
