Telemarketing industry invited to discuss future at DMA forum

LONDON - The DMA is running an evening forum for the telemarketing industry on July 26, which it hopes will give delegates the opportunity to discuss how to overcome negative perceptions of telemarketing.

The event will attempt to look at ways to look at the poor image that telemarketing has as customers rail against silent calling and long waiting times.

John Price, chair of the event and the DMA's Contact Centre Council, said: "The future of the telemarketing industry is under threat and it is vital that we have an honest and informed discussion about how we can halt the increasing negativity towards telemarketing and return to the days of the welcome call."

Research into the current success of telemarketing will be presented, along with the findings from the DMA's recent report on silent calls.

Speakers at the Sitel-sponsored event include Belinda Haden, call centre specialist at CM Insight; Melanie Howard, co-founder of The Future Foundation; Steve Smith, director of Brookmead Consulting; and Barrie Westwell, founder of Illusions Unlimited.

The venue is the Commonwealth Club in London and the event runs from 6pm to 8.15pm. Tickets cost 拢45 plus VAT for DMA members and 拢58.50 plus VAT for non-members.
