The Telegraph offers the best of British for 10-week promotion

LONDON – The Telegraph is celebrating the best of British by teaming up with ITV, WH Smith and Penguin and giving readers a free DVD of the crime drama 'Prime Suspect' to commemorate the 50th anniversary of ITV.

The DVD featuring 'Scent of Darkness' will be available on Saturday September 17. It will mark the the first in a series of 10 classic British TV dramas that will be available in WH Smith high street stores nationwide to Daily Telegraph readers for £2.99.

The promotion will run for 10 weeks with DVDs including 'Cracker', 'A Touch of Frost', 'Inspector Morse', 'Poirot', 'The Darling Buds of May' and 'Miss Marple Investigates'.

As part of the promotion, the Sunday Telegraph has partnered with Penguin to give away a free copy of Joseph Conrad's 'Heart of Darkness' on Sunday September 18.

In the same way as the DVD campaign, a series of 10 popular Penguin titles will be offered in WH Smith each week for the price of 99p to Telegraph readers.

Other books included in the promotion are Nick Hornby's 'High Fidelity', Pat Barker's 'Regeneration', 'Hotel World' by Ali Smith and 'Everything You Know' by Zoe Heller.
