Australia stands out in Telegraph travel activity

LONDON – The Daily Telegraph has secured Tourism Australia as sponsor for a special supplement in its quarterly Ultratravel magazine, out with the paper on the first Saturday in September.

The 12-page supplement, UltraAustralia, turns Ultratravel's focus on luxury and adventure towards the continent. The magazine itself will be 92 pages and include writers Peter Hughes on a Buddhist kingdom in Bhutan and Imogen Stubbs on the Atacama Desert.

On the same day, two other travel supplements are planned. The main paper will include a 16-page supplement on cruises, sponsored by a series of cruise operators. The Flanders Tourist Office has sponsored an eight-page supplement in the Telegraph Magazine.

The Telegraph will return to Australia the following week, this time with a 16-page guide to the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne 2006, sponsored by Visit Victoria and Qantas.

In October come the Telegraph Travel Awards, with the event planned for October 3 and the results published in the paper on Saturday October 8 and Sunday October 9.

Kimberly Butler, travel client manager at the Telegraph, said: "Advertisers and sponsors are attracted to The Telegraph because of its spirit of adventure, its quality of editorial and loyal readership."
