Telegraph/ Mirror sales to combine

The Telegraph Group and Mirror Group Newspapers have confirmed they are seeking to attract major advertising deals to run across both their broadsheet and tabloid titles as part of plans to form a combined sales house.

Plans to form the so-called Apollo Sales operation includes a joint commercial team looking at wider campaign opportunities that could run in titles belonging to both groups.

Trinity Mirror said it hoped the deal would boost ad revenue from its national titles, which fell by 4.2% in 2001. The Telegraph, by contrast, sees the deal as the next step to taking a wider role as a national sales house.
