Telegraph and Haymarket team <BR>up for new finance magazine

LONDON - The Daily Telegraph and Haymarket Publishing Group are set to launch a new consumer finance magazine next year with a number of other ideas for joint venture magazines being examined.

Based on the Saturday Telegraph's Your Money section, the title, to be called The Daily Telegraph Your Money, will be edited by Ian Cowie, the newspaper's personal finance editor.

Haymarket will handle advertising sales, distribution and copy sales, with publisher Rupert Heseltine managing the project.

The Daily Telegraph Your Money will feature information on managing personal finances and is to be published with a cover price of £3.50. The first issue will come out on January 25.

Kevin Costello, managing director of Haymarket's consumer magazines division, denied it was a difficult time to be launching a personal finance magazine. "It hits in the new year, when all the financial companies are promoting their new products, and will be on sale for a couple of months, leading to the end of the financial year when people make a lot of decisions," he said.

It is the second time the two publishers have worked together. Haymarket and the Telegraph previously teamed up to produce a pre-season football preview, in conjunction with Four Four Two, Haymarket's football title.

"It makes perfect sense to combine the Telegraph's expertise in a number of specialist areas, like personal finance, with our own focused magazine-making and circulation experience. We are already exploring a number of other interest areas with the Telegraph that may lend themselves to the magazine format," Costello said.
