Telegraph enters download market with Perfect Playlist

LONDON - Telegraph.co.uk is to launch its own music download store, which builds on the newspaper's Perfect Playlist.

The store will be powered by and feature music from independent labels as well as from well-known companies such as EMI, Sony BMG and Warner Music.

The recommends top 10 tracks from a variety of genres, and the music store will offer additional content and an improved user service.

Compatible with Macs and PCs, tracks will be available in WMA and MP3 format, which can be downloaded onto different music players.

Edward Roussel, Telegraph group online editorial director, said: "Telegraph.co.uk is rapidly turning into a destination where you not only read about news and culture but experience it directly with high quality audio, video and multimedia picture galleries. The Telegraph music store is an important step in this direction."

The Telegraph this week appointed William Lewis as its new editor as it moved to new headquarters in London's Victoria as part of its digital and print integration programme.
