The alerts will be sent at 2am, noon and 4pm, updating users on business, news and sport via mobile phone, Blackberry and other mobile devices.
It is the latest move to help people keep up to date with news from Telegraph reporters while they are on the move.
The newspaper recently launched a podcast service that makes three news stories, read either by the journalist who wrote the story or by an actor, available to be downloaded on to portable music players. People can sign up at .
Annelies van den Belt, new media director of the Telegraph Group, said: "We are delighted to have launched an interactive alert service for people 'on the go', with the latest news on your mobile/Blackberry device, anytime anywhere. The service, one of a series of new developments, is being published by the now fully integrated business editorial team."
Separately, the Telegraph is inviting its readers to contribute photographs from any news events they find themselves in via a new featured dubbed Snap & Send. It plans to publish the best pictures on the Telegraph website as well as in the newspaper. Anyone with a picture can send it via MMS or email to mypic@telegraph.co.uk.
The Daily Telegraph is hunting for a new editor after the resignation of Martin Newland on November 18. John Bryant, the recently appointed editor-in-chief, is acting editor of the paper until a successor is appointed.
