TBWA\ makes Eurostar shortlist for £10m account

LONDON - Eurostar has lined up six agencies to pitch for its highly coveted £10m advertising account.

The incumbent, TBWA\London, will go up against Mother, Fallon, Beattie McGuinness Bungay, Lowe and digital specialist Glue. The agencies are being briefed today.

Forty-three agencies applied to pitch, according to Greg Nugent, Eurostar's marketing director. However, he added: "We met six agencies that when we looked into their eyes we said 'we can do this'."

First-stage pitches will take place in the week commencing January 22, while a second round is scheduled for the third week in February.

The assignment is an important one for Eurostar; next year in November it moves its London hub from Waterloo to St Pancras, in an attempt to attract more travelers from the north of Britain.

Last week, Eurostar handed an assignment to start up agency Hurrell and Dawson. The agency will devise a strategy to promote Eurostar's green credentials.
