TBWA\London declines to pitch as Five reviews £5m creative account

LONDON - Five has called a pitch for its £5m advertising account following the appointment of Jane Scott as marketing director last year, with incumbent TBWA\London declining to take part.

Scott, previously controller of TV marketing, strategy and development at the BBC, took up the role at Five in June last year, sparking speculation of a review. Before she joined, the role had been vacant for a year following the departure of David Pullan.

It is understood that TBWA\London has decided not to take part in the pitch due to creative differences. Much of Five's television advertising is created by an in-house team, which also leads the overall creative strategy for the channel.

The station is currently running a press campaign to promote the latest series of US medical drama 'House', which stars Hugh Laurie.

As well as creating advertising campaigns for Five, TBWA\London is behind the station's visual identity, introduced when it rebranded from Channel 5 in 2002.

The channel launched in 1997 with an advertising campaign created by Mother. Other agencies to have worked on the account since include Walsh Trott Chick Smith, which handled the brand until it was shifted into TBWA\London in 2002.
