Tango introduces the five stages of tang

Rodney Cloomb, the Tango obsessive who appears in TV ads commenting on previous spots for the fizzy drink brand, reappeared on Saturday.

The Britvic brand aired the newest ad in its campaign on ITV on Saturday 14 June. The new spot opens on a TV showing Tango’s eight-minute long infomercial-style ad, which was released online last week.

The camera pans out to reveal Cloomb in his armchair watching the ad and learning about the five stages of sensation one gets from every sip of the drink - nose tang, sting tang, woo tang, boo tang and smoo tang.

He then begins chanting about the tangs until his partner tells him to be quiet.

Tango launched its new campaign after a two-year absence on 23 May with a soppy, off-brand cartoon, and then immediately followed it with a spot introducing Cloomb.

The campaign was created by Jack Willoughby and Serhan Asim at 101, which won the account in August 2014. M/Six handled the media.

The ad was directed by Matthew Holness through Moxie Pictures. Holness is best known for writing and starring in the Channel 4 horror parody Garth Marenghi’s Darkplace, which he co-created alongside the comedian Richard Ayoade.
