The operators are hoping to lure new consumers by giving away the free products with the stipulation that consumers must take on two-year contracts. The operators are offering the deals to coincide a peak season for laptop sales as college and university students begin their courses.
T-Mobile is offering a free Acer laptop and dongle to customers signing up to its £30-per-month Mobile Broadband Plus deal. It is also to bundle in 200 free text messages per month, which can be sent from the laptop.
3 is currently offering a HP laptop and 150 texts in its £30-per-month dongle deal, and Orange's free Asus laptop is available for £25 per month but with no free texts.
All of the networks are tying customers to two-year contracts.
Both Carphone Warehouse and Phones4U also bundle laptops ready to be connected to a broadband service.
