'Sunshine' is written by Craig Cash and Phil Mealey, who previously penned the 2003 series 'Early Doors'. In the first of three episodes in the slow-burning character comedy, Steve Coogan starred as Bing, supported by Bernard Hill and Lisa Millet.
'Cops With Cameras' on ITV1 followed closely with 3.6m viewers at 9pm, enough for a 16% audience share. This week police recorded their daily struggle on the front lines of crime in Oldham, Belfast and South Wales.
Channel 4's series 'Jamie's Ministry of Food' slightly improved on its 3m debut audience last week, pulling in 3.1m viewers for a 14% share. The second instalment of the four-part series followed celebrity chef Jamie Oliver in working-class Rotherham as he attempted to seduce residents away from junk food. Its showing on Channel 4+1 drew an additional 122,000 viewers.
Weekly institution 'CSI: Miami' secured a 12% audience share for Channel Five, as 2.6m tuned to watch David Caruso solve the suspicious death of a nanny.
Lastly, 'British Style Genius' on BBC Two grabbed 1m viewers for a 5% audience share in the 9-10pm slot. The first of a five-part documentary detailed the history of London's high-street fashion trends, working backwards from the phenomena of Top Shop and M&S to the days of Biba and Mary Quant.
