Actor Robert Redford, Sundance Institute and AEG Europe are running the first Sundance London at the O2, hosting UK premieres of films from the Sundance Film Festival which takes place every January in Park City, Utah.
The non-ticketed cafés will sit in the festival hub on the O2’s ground floor. The line-ups have been revealed and includes actor Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje who has starred in The Bourne Identity and Lost, and up-and-coming vocal harmony group The Staves.
John Cooper, director of the Sundance Film Festival, said the cafés are a pivotal element of the US festival: "Key to the success of the Sundance Film Festival is providing shared spaces and experiences for attendees, which is precisely our aim with the cinema café and music café.
"The line-up of events and performances announced today complement our film, music and panel programming and offer an additional opportunity for festival attendees to interact with each other as well as the visionary artists whose work will be presented at the first ever Sundance London."
The cinema café will aim to offer a relaxing environment for film discussions and live script readings, while intimate performances from musicians of all genres will take place in the music café. Most performances will be produced by the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers which runs the music café line-up at the main Sundance festival.
Robert Redford will open the festival’s first evening by sharing experiences from his career in a discussion with musician T Bone Burnett moderated by author Nick Hornby.
