News International has signed a deal with Submission Technology, which has set up a white label version of the GreasyPalm site. Both schemes will use the same affiliates.
Cashback sites have grown in popularity as online loyalty schemes have proliferated.
The business model for sites such as GreasyPalm entails rewarding consumers who buy through member retailers with cash. This money can then be spent with other affiliate members.
The newspaper brands are currently planning to give the scheme an editorial push.
According to insiders, this will lead to exclusive offers being run within the publications. The move coincides with the Daily Mirror's announcement that it is also planning to launch a cashback website (see pandionline 12 November).
The current economic problems have pushed cashback sites higher up the agenda alongside coupons and traditional on-pack promotions.
The cashback model received the ultimate seal of approval when Microsoft founder Bill Gates launched the Microsoft Live Search Cashback programme in May.
