
The magazine has been re-sized from its current handbag ratio to be larger, "but not as large as Grazia", editor of Sugar, Annabel Brog, said. The new look is unveiled tomorrow when the December issue of Sugar hits newsstands.
In addition to its bigger size, the paper stock of the magazine has been improved and its pages have been re-designed.Brog said the new look was necessary because "in this market you refresh all the time – you have to for teenagers as our audience changes more quickly than any other".
Brog added: "Certain formats that seemed very modern a while ago aren’t now." In the revamped title Sugar’s logo and body copy font will remain the same.
In the latest ABC results, Sugar recorded 113,320 average net circulation for the six months to June 2010, making it the lead magazine in the teenage lifestyle sector.
The second highest circulating teen magazine, Bliss, which is published by Panini UK, recorded 84,141 for the six months to June.
Sugarscape, the magazine’s online offering, earlier this year launched , which has attracted over 19,000 members with an average age of 20, according to the publisher.
Brog said: "Sugar will continue to sit alongside Sugarscape offering its unique blend of help, information and entertainment, just with an additional dose of attitude and humour."
