Cathy Rapley joins on March 3 in the new role of senior editor from Emap's New Woman, where she was entertainment editor. She has also worked on Elle Girl, Glamour, Heat and Minx, as well as freelancing for The Observer Magazine and Elle.
Nicola Elliot, currently deputy entertainment editor on Conde Nast's Glamour, joins on March 10 as entertainment editor. She will be tasked with securing In Style's celebrity interviews and editing the magazine's Scene & Heard section.
In Style was launched in the UK two years ago by AOL Time Warner-owned Time as a UK version of the successful US title, one of the biggest US women's magazines with a US circulation of 1.7m.
The magazine has so far failed to emulate its US sister title's success and, after Time Inc bought IPC in 2001, it moved In Style along with style bible Wallpaper into the publisher and gave it the task of making it work in the UK market.
In the year since In Style moved into IPC, the consumer publisher has appointed a new editor, Louise Chunn, and thrown a £1m ad campaign behind it through advertising agency Walsh Trott Chick Smith.
In the last set of ABCs, In Style UK had an ABC of 152,800, which was up slightly. However, this time it is expected to post a double-digit increase as a result of IPC's overhaul, when the ABCs are reported tomorrow.
"The addition of both Cathy and Nicola is a strong sign of In Style's growing visibility and success, and their skills will only add to the great magazine that we are already producing," Chunn said.
