
The site, , will consist of updates on local news, sport, weather and events for over 200 Scottish towns and communities.
STV Local will also feature user-generated content such as reviews and comments about events and businesses. Additionally STV is asking local groups to post information about their own events.
The broadcaster brought in students from universities throughout Scotland to work with the STV digital team to build the site. Journalism students were also given the opportunity to create initial content such as reviews and ratings.
Alastair Brown, STV head of digital, said: "STV Local allows us to get right on the doorstep of our audiences across Scotland, offering an essential source of local information for their areas, and will provide the foundations on which we hope to build strong relationships with communities across Scotland."
