Harrison takes up the mantle of jury president having won more Lions Direct trophies than any other creative director in the world, including the first Grand Prix for direct marketing, which was handed out at the 2002 festival. He is the first creative director to head the direct jury.
His agency also took home the Grand Prix at the UK Direct Marketing Awards in 2004, along with six Gold awards, seven Silvers and four Bronzes -- a record for an agency in a single year.
Terry Savage, executive chairman of the Cannes Advertising Festival, said: "Steve is incredibly talented. Winning a coveted Lion is hard; to have won so many Lions in such a short space of time is outstanding. We are delighted that he will preside over Lions Direct, which has become one of the most important international DM competitions."
Steve began his career at Ogilvy & Mather Direct (now OgilvyOne) as a researcher in 1985 having completed his doctorate at the University of Manchester. He became a copywriter 12 months later, head of copy in 1989 and UK creative director in 1991 and, in 1997, was made European creative director.
In 1998, he helped found HPT Brand Response and, in May 2001, Steve assumed creative and management control of the new agency Harrison Troughton Wunderman.
"I'm honoured to be the first creative director to head up the Lions Direct jury. In just five years, these awards have become the benchmark for worldwide creative excellence in our industry," Harrison said.
