Stars get down on 'The Farm' in Five's autumn line-up

LONDON - 'The Farm', a reality show from Endemol in which celebrities such as Paul Daniels and Debbie McGee immerse themselves in country life, is one of the highlights of Five's autumn schedule.

The programme, to be screened nightly over three weeks, will follow a group of minor stars as they give up their city lives to live on a working farm. Paul Daniels, Debbie McGee and model Sophie Anderton have all signed up to take part.

Dan Chambers, the director of programmes at Five, said: "The Farm is a hugely exciting programme that we hope will capture the public's imagination."

The contestants will immerse themselves in rural life, caring for animals and undertaking daily farmyard jobs such as mucking out and milking cows, collecting chicken eggs and herding pigs and sheep.

Other new shows include 'Cosmetic Surgery Live', which explores surgical procedures on both sides of the Atlantic, and a documentary called 'What Makes Alastair Campbell Run?'.

'Boxing Academy' will capitalise on surge of interest in the sport following 17-year-old Amir Khan's Olympic performance. The show follows the gruelling training regime of a group of young hopefuls, who are whittled down to a final pair and have the chance to train professionally

Drama highlights include 'Murder Prevention', a series about an elite police unit that arrests potential murderers before they commit a crime.

"I honestly feel this is the richest and most complete schedule we have had on Five," Chambers said.
