Starbucks ties with (RED) to fight AIDS

LONDON - Starbucks has teamed up with (RED) to raise funds to fight AIDS in Africa.

Starbucks ties with (RED) to fight AIDS

The UK partnership, which builds on the broader partnership between the coffee house and (RED) in the US and Canada, will involve the sale of (STARBUCKS)RED products to generate funds.

Every time a customer pays with their registered (STARBUCKS)RED reward card at participating outlets, Starbucks will make a 5p contribution to the Global Fund, which helps those affected by AIDS.

For every sale of a (STARBUCKS)RED tumbler, the coffee house will donate £3.

(RED) aims to engage the private sector in raising awareness for the Global Fund's work to eliminate AIDS in Africa. Companies that take on the (PRODUCT)RED trademark contribute a percentage of sales or profits from that product to the Global Fund to help finance AIDS programmes.

At the end of July, initiatives supported by the Global Fund have averted more than 4m deaths by providing AIDS treatment for 2.3m people, TB treatment for 5.4m people and through the distribution of 88m mosquito nets.
