Optimedia has won the pitch for the pounds 6m media and planning

business of office-supplies and equipment retailer Staples.

The agency was awarded the business after a four-way pitch against

incumbent Zenith Media, The Media Business Group and TMD Carat.

The account is likely to focus on the regional press, but will also

involve a substantial television campaign, following a successful trial

of the medium last year.

Staples will also be testing radio advertising this year.

The retailer has 41 stores and plans to open more this year.

The company’s creative account is to remain with its incumbent

advertising agency, Bates Dorland.
