St Tropez backs online petition for sun-bed restrictions

The petition, at www.st-tropezskinsmart.org, proposes a ban on all unmanned coin-operated sunbeds in the UK. It also campaigns against under-18s using sun beds.

The company plans to present the petition to Parliament alongside a mandate for change, once it has gained 10,000 signatures.

St. Tropez chief executive Michelle Feeney said: ‘Skin cancer causes a staggering number of deaths a year. We are committed to ensuring that sun bed usage is regulated.'

In February, it was reported that a 14-year-old girl suffered 70% burns while using an unstaffed tanning salon.
