SSE's orangutan Maya returns for second major campaign

SSE has released the next stage of its ad campaign, starring a CGI orangutan Maya to promote the deals it offers its customers.

The latest TV spot, created by Adam & Eve/DDB, shows Maya visiting a funfair by the seaside where she sees energy being used by different rides and attractions.

The campaign was created by Graham Cappi and James Gillham. Frederic Planchon directed the TV spot through Academy. The Mill was responsible for the CGI.

The TV ad will be supported by outdoor, radio and digital ads promoting the deals SSE offers, such as six months of free broadband and line rental when customers commit for 18 months.

Stephen Knight, the acting chief marketing officer at SSE, said: "We’re always trying to do more for our customers. That’s why, at this time of year, when the cost of running your home can start to rise, we wanted to communicate that SSE have a range of great deals for all our customers, not just the new ones."

OMD UK handled the media for the campaign, which broke during the Scotland vs. South Africa Rugby World Cup match, broadcast on ITV on Saturday.

SSE appointed Adam & Eve/DDB and OMD UK to its creative and ad accounts last year.
