Space has hired Golley Slater's Eileen McIntosh as a board director and promoted Gerry Williams from group account director to board director.
Williams and McIntosh will be responsible for the day to day running of the business, along with Paul Iaquaniello, creative director and fellow board director.
McIntosh will head up a team working across accounts including SCA and Eurostar.
She previously worked at Golley Slater for four years, where she was responsible for setting up GSPromote, the group's promotional marketing division, and helping to generate a client list including Twining's, Canon and TK Maxx.
McIntosh said: "I had been talking to Space for several months and I felt, from my initial discussions, it was a real 'meeting of minds'.
"I fully understand the pressures of running an agency and I hope my extensive experience working across both B2B and B2C marketing communications to deliver successful campaigns will prove invaluable."
Atkinson said: "With challenging growth targets for 2009, the new board will help ensure we continue to provide the same exceptional service to our existing accounts, while also freeing up myself and Guy Hepplewhite, to focus on new business opportunities and growing the overall business."
Space has also appointed Adam Newman as account manager and Richard Tidman as creative services manager.
Newman, who previously worked at Supremia International for three years, will work on the Samsung, ±±¾©Èü³µpk10 to Protect Rural England and Laureus accounts.
Tidman, who joins Space following a three-year stint at Exposure as studio manager. He has 15 years of experience in studio and production management in the UK and Australia.
In addition, Jon Kent, who joined the Space team six months ago as senior account manager, has been promoted to account director. He will direct the Samsung and ±±¾©Èü³µpk10 to Protect Rural England accounts, and will be responsible for planning and managing the implementation of campaigns.
