LONDON - Sony is planning a global sporting event called Twilight Football to promote its photography equipment.

Sony promotes photography equipment with twilight football campaign

The electronics brand will create a print and outdoor campaign using twilight images taken on 22 September during a series of five-a-side football games taking place over the autumnal equinox.

The first game will start as twilight begins in Italy, with games following in France, Spain, the UK, Argentina and Australia until the final whistle blows in South Africa. The match will last for around four hours and forty minutes.

The matches take place on a floating platform in Venice, at King Arthur's castle in Cornwall, the Iguazu Falls in Argentina and finally Soccer City in Johannesburg, the half-built stadium which will house the 2010 World Cup Final.

The campaign has been designed to promote Sony's Exmor CMOS sensor technology which can capture detail in low light.
