Smash Hits relaunches for 25th anniversary issue

LONDON - Smash Hits, the Emap Performance teenage music magazine, is relaunching with a new look to celebrate its 25th birthday.

From April 2, the title will have a new design that includes the introduction of a separate songwords booklet distributed free with each magazine. The magazine will also carry a free glossy poster book.

Smash Hits' birthday celebrations will also be backed by a 90-minute TV special on Channel 4 called '25 Years of Smash Hits'. The special will air on April 12.

Stephen Palmer, Emap's managing director of pop, said: "The world of pop is about big stars and big stories and building shrines to the stars that teenagers adore. The changes we are making editorially will help us continue to superserve pop-obsessed Smash Hits fans."
