The Rugby Captains Dinner will take place on 16 September at Smart Group’s London venue, Battersea Evolution, featuring international heroes including World Cup winning captains Martin Johnson from England, Francois Pienaar and John Smit of South Africa, Nick Farr-Jones and John Eales from Australia and New Zealand’s David Kirk. Tickets for tables hosted by Johnson, Pienaar and Farr-Jones have already been snapped up.
The captains will be supported on the evening by many of their team mates, as well as stars from stage and screen, along with other sporting professionals who will pay their own personal tributes to these leaders.
Smart Group has created three packages for the event in association with the company’s creative director and renowned chef Angela Hartnett. All fundraising for the evening, plus 10% of all tickets purchased, will be donated to Restart the Rugby Players’ Association charity and Willow, the only national charity working with seriously ill young adults aged between 16 and 40 years old.
Johnson said: "This is a rare opportunity for me and my fellow captains to be reunited, it will be great to give our guests a preview on what is shaping up to be one of the best World Cups ever; an event not to be missed by any rugby fan."
The Rugby World Cup 2014 kicks off on 18 September taking place at various sporting venues in Brighton, Birmingham, Milton Keynes and Newcastle.
