Event Management for Dummies, which went on sale nationwide yesterday (28 August), offers advice to readers looking to try their hand at running an event and includes tips, hints and checklists.
The 330-page book published by John Wiley & Sons covers all aspects of running an event including budgeting, scheduling, promotion, sourcing a location, security and health and safety. It also offers advice on how to build a career in event management.
Capell said: "It was an honour to be invited by For Dummies to write the book, who recognised that our work at Sledge is market leading. I hope it inspires new talent into the industry, and helps people to get truly creative with their events, while also avoiding the pitfalls that can undermine the best-laid plans.
"It’s been a great experience writing the book, capturing everything from the big processes, to all the little things that go towards making an event special."
She added that the team at Sledge had helped to contribute ideas and improvements in their particular areas of expertise for the new book.
Prior to the new book, the latest event-related For Dummies guide, called Meeting and Event Planning for Dummies, was published in 2003 and written by tradeshow industry expert Susan Freidmann.
