Slazenger Authentics retain the original design of Slazenger's classic tennis and squash shoes from the 1970s. The range is launched with a limited edition of 100 pairs of shoes, featuring a unique issue number stitched in to the back of the heel. These will be sent to stylists, musicians in top bands and other people considered to be opinion formers.
The full range, which includes plain white with different coloured stripes, as well as coloured and suede variations, will be on sale from the beginning of August.
NLG, the exclusive licensee of Slazenger, has retained Kazoo Communications to promote the Authentics range and, in the process, introduce the brand to a new generation.
Reebok has also reintroduced some of its designs from the early 1980s and, earlier this month, Nike bought Converse, maker of the classic All-Star basketball shoe.
