The deal covers the UK TV rights to the Bruckheimer-produced 'Skin', a story of young love combined with a porn baron's battle against a district attorney.
It also includes Cold Case, a collaboration between Bruckheimer and producer Meredith Stiehm, who has written for shows including 'Beverley Hills 90210' and 'ER', about a Philadelphia homicide squad which investigates unsolved cases; and an update on Tarzan and Jane, which is described as an escapist romantic drama.
Bruckheimer, who as well as being the producer of such films as "Black Hawk Down, 'Pearl Harbor', 'Flash Dance' and 'Top Gun', is behind hit TV CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, shown here on Five.
Sky also gets the exclusive pay TV rights to 'Nip/Tuck', a drama about cosmetic surgery featuring UK actress Joely Richardson; and 'Fearless', an FBI drama also by Bruckheimer.
The deal shows Sky One turn up the heat on terrestrial station Channel 4, which has had great success with US shows such as 'Friends', 'The West Wing' and 'Six Feet Under', and its sister digital channel E4.
Sara Ramsden, controller of Sky One, said: "With these shows Sky One really can claim to have the best of US TV first. 'Nip/Tuck', featuring Joely Richardson, is the most edgy, intelligent drama to come out of the US for several years. It is 'must see' programming, with the most jaw-dropping plastic surgery sequences ever seen on TV. Fast, edgy, vibrant and fantastic entertainment."
The shows will form the cornerstone of Sky One's winter schedule and will air from January 2004. Ramsden believes the shows, particularly the Bruckheimer projects, are typical of Sky One content.
"Together with 'Fearless' and the untitled Bruckheimer-Stiehm project, these shows will be at the heart of Sky One's winter schedule and typify Sky One: great fun, sexy, high quality, intelligent and entertaining," she said.
