The transactional service is available to Sky subscribers and costs £3.95 per title. At launch, SBO World has over 150 titles to choose from, including some exclusively available to the channel.
The service is divided into four sections: Bollywood, offering new and classic Bollywood movies; Cinema Europa, a selection of quality titles from across Europe; Eastern Action, for a roundup of kung fu and action films; and World Festival Hits, featuring some of the most celebrated hits from world cinema. Many of the films are not available anywhere else in the UK, according to Sky.
Ian Lewis, director of Sky Movies and SBO, said that the intention was to “super-serve” Sky’s world cinema audience, and that the offering underlined Sky’s credentials as “the complete movies service.”
