Sky launches dedicated gaming channel Pokerzone

LONDON – Sky is launching a poker and casino lifestyle channel, Pokerzone, which will include the option of interactive gaming.

The channel, launching on Sky channel 226, promises to broadcast more than pre-recorded poker tournaments with documentaries on the game, interactive gaming and themed poker movies including 'The Man with the Golden Arm.'

The channel kicks off with the Monte Carlo Millions poker tournament, followed by Pokerzone's live participation show 'Poker Night Live', which claims to be the only televised online poker tournament.

Professional commentators Greg "The Axxeman" Winters and "Dr" Tom Sambrook will give live analysis of the tournament late into the evening.

"The poker boom is massive and television in the next step in this phenomenon," Winters said.

Other programming lined up for the channel includes classic poker and casino-themed entertainment series, movie nights, brand new poker themed documentaries as well as interactive gaming options.
