Sky hires BA's David Murdin for sports and news branding role

LONDON - Sky has appointed British Airways' David Murdin to the new role of director of sports and marketing, as it continues to push the quality of its content.

Murdin will report to Andy Brent, group director of brand marketing at .

At British Airways he was global head of brand, product and service. He has also held customer relations roles at the banks RBS and Egg.

Sky has also promoted Corin Dimopoulos to the new role of director of cycling, reflecting Sky's interests in the sport, with its sponsorship of .

The broadcaster revealed earlier this year that it has plans to create a professional British road cycling team, which will be known as Team Sky, to compete in the Tour de France starting from 2010.

Brent said: "Sky's ongoing success is supported by the investments we make in our brand.

"We have more customer relationships than ever, and are reaching and engaging those customers in a range of ways, both on-screen and off."
