The broadcaster said it is currently working with British Cycling to develop a series of “inspiring events to make cycling fun, easy and accessible”. Details about the events will be unveiled in the spring.
The plan was announced along with the launch of Team Sky, a new British professional road racing team targeting success in the Tour de France in the next five years.
The activity follows Sky’s move in 2008 to align itself more closely with sport by announcing deals to sponsor a British track cycling team as well as the London Freewheel event run by Transport for London.
Team Sky is currently in the hunt for two co-sponsors. Sky director of commercial said its first appearance would be at the Australia’s Tour Down Under in January next year.
