Asda is set to make its interactive shopping service, Asda@ Home, available through the Sky Active platform.
The shopping service is currently available only to digital satellite viewers in High Wycombe and South Leeds, but will roll out throughout England and Wales, starting this month.
Asda claims that the deal will create the biggest digital TV shopping service in the UK.
The move is also a boost to the Sky Active platform following the recent announcement by rival retailers Argos and Woolworths that they were pulling the plug on their interactive shopping services.
Industry observers speculated that the decision was prompted by excessive costs for a presence on the interactive platform.
Argos also pulled its interactive service on Telewest.
However, Asda interactive TV marketing manager David
Martin said: "The launch on Sky Active allows Asda to offer its full range of over 11,000 products to the largest possible digital TV market.
