SJP hangs out with Mary J Blige in Gap Christmas push

NEW YORK - Sarah Jessica Parker will be seen celebrating Christmas with the singer Mary J Blige in the seasonal advertising campaign for Gap, which opts to show a broader range of clothes and gifts.

The campaign, created by Laird+Partners, extends the "How do you wear it?" theme introduced in autumn and instead asks consumers "How do you share it?".

Parker will appear in three ads, where she celebrates what is known as the holiday season in the US, with stars including singers Blige and Kelis in separate ads and the British actor Will Kemp, who appeared in the film 'Van Helsing'.

Jeff Jones, executive vice-president of Gap marketing, said: "For our latest campaign, Gap teamed up with Sarah Jessica Parker to 'host' the holiday party we hope everyone will attend this year. The spots show our customers a broader range of products and gifts than they've seen from Gap in previous holiday seasons."

In each ad, Parker is shown having a celebration with her fellow celebrities, who give each other gifts and relax in Gap clothing. The ads will run in the US, Canada, Japan and Europe.

At the same time, Gap is launching a charity campaign to donate clothes to children. Proceeds from the sales of a limited-edition Brannan the Bear teddybear sold at Gap will be donated to buy 70,000 jackets for children in need this winter.
