Six DMGT execs take home more than £1m in 2010

Viscount Rothermere, the chairman of Daily Mail & General Trust (DMGT) and Kevin Beatty, the chief executive of the group's newspaper unit A&N Media, were among the six group directors to take home more than £1m in 2010, according to the company's annual report.

But both Beatty and Rothermere witnessed a dip in their overall remuneration packages as the company continued to battle a difficult economy and tough newspaper market.

of £146.3m on revenue of £1.97bn for the year to 3 October, buoyed by cost-cutting and the record performance of its Daily Mail and Metro titles.

According to the company's latest annual report, Rothermere witnessed a dip in his overall remuneration from £1.32m to £1.31m in 2010. His pay packet included a basic salary of £688,000 and a bonus of £337,000.

Beatty’s overall remuneration dipped from £1.22m to £1.07m in 2010. His pay included a basic salary of £628,000 and a bonus of £188,000.

Six DMGT executives took home more than one million pounds in 2010. These include: Martin Morgan, chief executive of DMGT; Peter Williams, the company's outgoing finance director; Padraic Fallon, the chairman of DMGT-owned Euromoney Institutional Investor; and Daily Mail editor Paul Dacre.

Dacre took home £2.79m in 2010 and £1.64m in 2009.

Fallon took home £4.66m, easily the highest-paid of the DMGT directors.
