Sir Martin Sorrell announced as IDM lunch key speaker

LONDON - The Institute of Direct Marketing has invited Sir Martin Sorrell to host its 20th anniversary lunch early next year.

Sir Martin, chief executive of WPP, will address an audience of senior direct marketers on the challenges facing today's business leaders. These include the shift in economic power from West to East, the diminishing supremacy of traditional advertising, the increased focus on direct marketing and the influence of the web.

Caroline Robertson, the IDM's director of membership, said: "I'm absolutely delighted Sir Martin has agreed to address the members in our 20th anniversary year. While direct marketing has come a long way it's wise to be aware of the challenges and opportunities we face as individuals and at work. Who better then to signpost these than one of today's global marketing and business leaders?"

The annual lunch, which takes place in central London on February 12, has been previously hosted by the likes of Sir Keith Mills, General Charles Krulak of MBNA, ex-MI5 chief Dame Stella Rimington and Ken Livingstone, now Mayor of London.
