Duvall and Jacobi lined up as IDM guest speakers

LONDON – Richard Duvall, the founder of Egg and CEO of Zopa, and Mary Jo Jacobi, former vice-president of Shell, are among the guest speakers at the IDM and Marketing Society's Symposium 2006.

The two-day symposium is centred around the topical discussion point "Proving marketing's value in the boardroom".

Duvall, Zopa CEO and founder of online bank Egg, who was described by Microsoft owner Bill Gates "as one of the most dynamic people I have met", will make the keynote address, "Creating value through quality not quantity: breaking the mass marketer's vicious cycle".

Jacobi, a former vice-president of group external affairs for Royal Dutch/Shell Group and a former senior adviser to two US presidents, will deliver a speech on "tangible marketing value through brand equity".

Other speakers included among the 30-strong line-up at the symposium are: Don Peppers, a founding partner of Peppers & Rogers Group; and David Thorpe, global lead of strategy and insights at Team Microsoft at Young & Rubicam.

Neil Morris, deputy managing director of the IDM, said: "With just 11 companies in the FTSE 100 having a marketer on the board, this year's symposium is dedicated to helping senior marketers strengthen their hand in the corporate battleground of budgets, resources, recognition and reward."

The event will be held at London's Millennium Mayfair Hotel on June 6-7.
