Created by DLKW, the ad shows Hurst, the only man to score a hat-trick in a World Cup final, playing a game of Top Trumps with two young football fans.
The Mirror's media agency Arena Media (fomerly Arena BLM) has booked the ad into primetime spots on terrestrial and satellite channels tonight and tomorrow morning,
Saturday's Daily Mirror will be poly-bagged with 16 Top Trumps cards and a collector's box.
Over the following week the Sunday Mirror and Daily Mirror will give away an entire set of the popular kids' game which features England Legends such as Gary Lineker, David Beckham, Wayne Rooney and Hurst himself.
Shane Davison, group marketing and promotions manager, said: "It was an honour to work with Sir Geoff on this campaign as he is the ultimate England legend.
"This is the first among a series of promotions in which we will cement the Mirror's place as the number one destination for the World Cup."
