Simpsons DVD set for £5m Christmas ad blitz

LONDON - Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment is backing the launch of the 'The Simpsons Movie' DVD with a £5m advertising campaign created by Vizeum.

The Aegis-owned media agency will launch an integrated push that kicks off on December 3, involving TV ads and online advertising with Facebook.

TV ads will run in the UK and Ireland, including a spot during ITV's' X Factor' final on December 15.

Twentieth Century Fox will also partner with the Nickelodeon channel, which will include an advertorial and a dedicated website.

The radio push will involve an authentic American yellow school bus, as part of a Capital Radio promotion on Johnny Vaughan's Capital breakfast show, during the week of the DVD's launch

The bus will be used in caller competitions, in conjunction with a dedicated page on Capital Radio's website.

A nationwide outdoor blitz will use London taxis, high profile sites across the country and digital roadside boards.

There will also be an online takeover page on the MySpace TV homepage and online activity with Facebook, Lycos, The Sun, Channel 4 and Virgin Media.

Leela Chivers, planning manager at Vizeum, said: "To celebrate the release of one of the biggest films of the year on DVD we needed to make 'The Simpsons Movie' synonymous with Christmas.

"All communications will tap into this theme using the Simpsons Movie family and Spider Pig, cutting through the whitewash of gift advertising with engaging communications across all channels."
