Silverpop plans European expansion from London base

LONDON - Email marketing firm Silverpop is ramping up its international expansion programme and has selected its London office to manage EMEA marketing operations for the company.

The London office has recently doubled in size on the back of the company's expanding international client base.

Will Schnabel, previously vice-president and general manager of Vtrenz, Silverpop's demand management service, has been appointed vice-president of international markets and will oversee Silverpop's international operations and expansion strategy.

Silverpop said that email marketing growth is expected to remain very strong throughout Europe and Asia. Forrester Research estimates the European email market increasing from €1.5bn in 2007 to €2.3bn in 2012.

Mike Weston, managing director of EMEA Silverpop, said: "In the past three years, Silverpop has carved out a leadership position in the UK email market, and we increasingly find our customers drawing us onto the continent.

"We've been delighted to find no shortage of smart marketers who are keen to take advantage of our suite of on-demand marketing tools that enhances their abilities to develop strong, brand-loyal online relationships with their customers."

Silverpop has offices throughout the US and in the UK. Its clients include Fossil, Siemens, JetBlue, Aetna, British Sky Broadcasting, Little Tikes and Houghton Mifflin.
