Inspired by the fun of the 1814 Frost Fair, when the Thames froze solidly for four days, the package includes menus featuring roasted meats, pies and oysters as well as ice shard cocktails, with entertainment provided by the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art.

The Thames on Ice menu has been created for Woods’ by chef Jamie Oliver’s event team, and is inspired by the stalls of the Victorian Frost Fair. Options include potted old spot ham and sweet crackling; hot smoked trout and roe on toasted rye with English apple; and roast topside of Cumbrian Dexter beef.

Guests can also choose from a menu of meats to be roasted on the back deck in a traditional spit-roast fashion to reflect the famous Victorian ox roasts. Styling decor packages are available for private events for up to 440 people between November 2014 and February 2015.

Kate Woods, design and development director at Woods’ Silver Fleet, said: "We’ve done lots of research into the décor for The Silver Sturgeon. Expect to see hand-chiseled ice sculptures crafted by Icebox, and extraordinary fireplaces by Chesney’s."
