At each match, the Carlsberg Man of the Match trophy will be presented by a winner of a sales or media promotion from one of the main countries taking part in the championship, of which Carlsberg is one of the main sponsors.
The trophies are made in the shape of the award-winning Carlsberg Export font created for Carlsberg UK in 2002 by the SiebertHead Structural Design team. The font is currently being rolled out worldwide by the Danish brewer.
Finished in brushed stainless steel plate and standing on a black plinth, the trophies, in the shape of a tall extruded C, are a blend of Modern Danish design with an organic twist.
Tim Corvin, director of structural design at SiebertHead, said: "When we created the original font we were looking for a way to emphasise the brand's quality in a truly ownable fashion. We created a brand icon that draws on Carlsberg's passion for brewing excellence reflected in modern Danish design and craftsmanship."
He added: The measure of the success was Carlsberg Export becoming the fastest growing premium lager brand in the UK, followed by the recognition that the font could play a similar role for Carlsberg around the world. We are very proud it is being used for Euro 2004 and delighted that it has turned out to be the strong vehicle for Carlsberg branding that we believed it would become."
