SiebertHead creates iconic packaging for new Edelweiss Snowfresh

LONDON - SiebertHead has created the design for Heineken's new Alpine wheat beer, named Edelweiss Snowfresh, to be targeted at young urban adults.

The brand has a premium speciality positioning and is said to be all about the "alternative alpine experience". The beer is brewed with pure alpine water and added alpine herbs.

The design agency created packaging that centred on the alpine origin of the drink. It features an iconic Edelweiss flower in a dark blue metallic square, with silver and white colour-ways on the labelling, which takes the form of a premium cigar band execution and a neck label acting as a quality seal.

In addition, the bottle features a rugged alpine bas-relief with the Edelweiss motif also debossed at the bottom of the bottle to act as another seal of quality.

The new design is meant to give an ownable and tactile property to the brand.

Tim Corvin SiebertHead's head of structural design, said: "This is a very significant project for Heineken and will in effect create a new category in the global beer market.

"SiebertHead has created a unique graphic and physical vocabulary for the brand which emphasises the unique Alpine provenance and premium speciality positioning and gives Edelweiss Snowfresh the credibility and authenticity to compete on a world stage."

The beer will be launched initially in the Czech Republic and Croatia during Spring.
