The Showslice website, which is due to launch on 17 June, has been set up by co-founders Damian Oracki and Felix Vararu. Oracki has previously worked in the event industry in health and safety, while Vararu is an engineer who developed the technology.

Oracki told Event that he was frustrated by the amount of wastage that occurs in the events industry due to a lack of communication.

He said: "When I was a supplier myself, I saw almost identical events occur consecutively, but each booked separate venues and suppliers.

"No one in events wants to talk to each other because of how confidential the industry is. Showslice will let organisers see basic details about other events such as event type and location, but will not identify any details. This will mean opportunity for less wastage, and planners will be able to save on costs."

The platform will be London-based to begin with, but the company hopes to expand globally in the future.
