The company, which has two existing UK offices in east London and Liverpool, revealed the Scottish base in the city centre will be temporary and will provide event, site and seating crew, overlay support, qualified plant operators and specialist labour.

Hannah Burke, operations co-ordinator, will head up the Glasgow office, with the office team consisting of two members of staff.

Chris Martelly, operations director at Showforce, said: "We have already secured a contract with a leading power provider and have a number of other projects in the pipeline. Having a base in the city where the Commonwealth Games will be hosted and that also has excellent transport links to St Andrews makes sense.

"We have started to receive enquiries for crew in Scotland and having the people and the right operations team in place to service the events is vital."

Martelly told Event should Showforce get more work in Scotland aside from the Commonwealth Games and Ryder Cup, the company may make the Glasgow office a permanent fixture.
