#UKTweetElite: What is your top social media platform?

Continuing our conversation around social media, following the publication of our top 50 UK marketing and advertising Klout influencers, we asked our Twitter followers which social platform was top of their agenda and why.

We discounted Twitter as we thought this might win by a long mile.

The results are in and it’s fair to say it’s a mixed bag.

Facebook, LinkedIn and Instagram all got a mention, however, said blogging was his preference, being one of earliest forms of social media.

He said: "Own your home, don't rent." Well said.

We also liked response, "Horses for courses. Depends where your audience is. Know your customer, be where they are."

During the rest of this week, we'll be tweeting out more social media-related questions at 1pm via our Twitter handle with the hashtag, so make sure you get involved in the conversation.

Vloggers: Tips for brand campaigns

StyleHaul is the creator network that hosts Zoella's influential channel, among others.

Marketing Magazine asked its European VP, James Stafford, to give ten tips on . Here's a taster of the first five:

  1. Don't stress out: Work with a reputable company and you’ll be fine.
  2. Have clear objectives: "a 'cheap' video or a sort-of-commercial" are not valid objectives.
  3. Value engagement over scale: "Having a conversation with an audience is at the heart of influencer marketing."
  4. Allow editorial independence: "It goes against the whole point of collaborating in the first place," and it breaches the rules to boot.
  5. Add value to the audiences: "Think ‘how can we create an experience that the fans will love, and brings my brand to life in a meaningful way?’"

Reports: Top 50 ad agencies see 'lowest profit margins for seven years'

Accounting firm Kingston Smith W1 has released its Marketing Monitor report, based on accounts most recently filed at Companies House until 30 June. Would you like the bad news first? Or the bad news?

For the 50 top ad agencies, margins fell to 10.6%, the lowest reported since June 2008. And the survey said:

As agencies staff up and try to retain talent, there is increased pressure on wages and this is evidenced in the latest results, with only 13 agencies managing to achieve a ratio below our target of 55%.

Glad we got the bad news out of the way, here's the bad news. For media buyers, margins have dropped to 15.5%, down from 15.9% in December 2014. Again, the survey said:

As the sector continues to move away from traditional methods of media buying and towards mobile and programmatic technology, agencies are less able to unlock the potential of unified media buying at scale. All this change has inevitably led to increased costs as agencies invest in new capabilities and technologies to modernise their offer to their clients.

Very.co.uk shoppable YouTube vid featuring Rizzle Kicks

YouTube: Rizzle Kicks in shoppable vid for Very.co.uk

Cast your minds back to the 18:05 bulletin on 4 June. Ah yes, you say, the one with the Williams-Sonoma shoppable YouTube video. Exactly, we say, .

Well here's another, in our opinion better, example. While Williams-Sonoma's content was a party-planning recipe show, Very.co.uk has got Rizzle Kicks to cover DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince's Summertime and roped Jeff into the music video. Perhaps it's because of the generation we're from, but that's some excellent content.

We're fascinated to see how this performs because we'd bet that this video has reach. Views are only at 1.7k at time of writing. We wonder if Very.co.uk asked if they could tap into  1.48m Twitter followers? No tweet yet...

For more on the campaign, and who's behind it, .
